- • If you start tracing from the outer edges of your image, then work in, the layering of each path should be close to correct.
- • Do a rough trace first, then go back and fine tune your curves, points and lines.
- • Use Preview and New View often to see how the illustration is shaping up.
- • Remember Adobe's three rules on tracing:
- BUMP RULE: place anchor points to the side of "bumps," not on their peaks.
- STRIDE RULE: use as few points as possible... make big strides.
- 30% RULE: a curve's direction lines should be no bigger than 30% of the entire curve's length.
